Carers Respite Service
We know that being the full-time carer of a person living with dementia is demanding on energy and patience. We offer you a free home respite service so that you the carer can have some time to yourself.
An experienced carer employed by the GAA will provide company for your loved one giving you time off. The “Sitter” would either provide companionship at your home, or they may take the one you care for, out for a visit e.g. for tea/coffee.
There is no cost to you, however, it would be appreciated if users of the service would consider making a donation to help offset the high running cost of the service. Respite is available for up to three hours weekly or by arrangement, specific to your circumstances.
Our Carers Respite Service Manager will discuss all details with you both in advance and you will meet the sitter to establish that the relationship will work well. Please contact The Centre to arrange provision of your respite time-off.
